Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is India's fourth largest city and one of the 35 largest metropolitan areas in the world. It's situated on the east coast of southern India with an estimated population of 7 million.
Chennai is the third largest commercial and industrial center in India, considered the automobile manufacturing capital of the country. (Often referred to as the Detroit of South Asia). The city is known as a cultural hub for its classical music, dance and temple architecture.
